January 5th, 2007is totally weirding me out.
61 degrees in January, in DC? Predictions for the 70s tomorrow?
I wish I knew where to find some data to determine whether this is as bizarre as it seems…

We have some pansies out on the balcony. They have been there since June. We live in Michigan.
They were flourishing at least until the ice storm, having come through a number of cold snaps.
We used to have what the locals called ‘January thaw’, a brief warming in between the cold spells of December and February.
