Going Nowhere Fast
Yeah, those hyrbids don't really solve anything. But they're a good step.
And then there's this Wired article about how auto manufacturers are keeping a lid on the computerized internals of their vehicles. That way, they can edge in on the money all those independent mechanics are making.
Now, let's just back up a second here.
Nothing against all the hardworking mechanics of the world, but who really wants to deal with the trials and tribulations that are known as car maintenence? Don't you have anything better to do than sit around at a repair shop on your Saturday afternoon waiting to figure out why your windshield wipers aren't working?
Or in line at the DMV so you can get... some car related form filled out?
Or washing the damn thing?
Any way you look at it, that stuff is a pain.
What's the alternative?
Robotic cars. You call them, they come pick you up, drive you where you want to be (you can watch tv on the way), drop you off, and then go pick someone else up.
Is that crazy?
Am I a crank?
